Privacy notice

What we keep when you talk to us.

This notice is about the chat on this website. It is written to be read, not to protect us. It applies from the first message you type.

Who is responsible

Ian Bruce Campbell, a sole proprietor trading as 3archAI, is the responsible party for this processing. He decides what happens to your information.

Business address (also the postal address): 10a Roberts Street, Ermelo, 2351, South Africa
Email for privacy requests: [email protected]

What is kept

The conversation itself, from your first message. A session identifier. Your name, contact details and a note only if you choose to leave them, with a tick that records that you agreed.

We do not store your IP address. We keep a keyed, day-bound hash of it for two days, only to count messages and stop abuse.

Why

The conversation is kept so you are not forgotten: you can come back and continue instead of starting again. Contact details are used only to reply to your enquiry.

Leaving your details is voluntary. If you do not leave them, the chat still works — you just cannot be contacted afterwards.

Who else sees it

Cloudflare hosts and stores the conversation. DeepSeek processes it to produce the replies. Bruce and the assistant that built this site can read a stored conversation.

Before anything reaches DeepSeek, names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, ID numbers and card numbers are replaced with placeholders. The real words stay in our own storage and are put back before you see a reply. We do not sell it, do not use it for advertising, and do not show it to other clients.

It leaves South Africa

The conversation is processed by DeepSeek, a company based in China, on its own systems, and stored on Cloudflare's global network. Both are needed for the chat to answer at all.

DeepSeek's published terms allow it to keep inputs while the account exists and to use them, under de-identification, to improve its models. We reduce what it receives: identifiers are stripped before the conversation leaves us, and we ask you not to type sensitive information at all. Stripping is pattern matching — it will not catch everything, which is why the ask still stands.

How long

Conversations: 90 days, then deleted automatically. Contact details: 24 months from your last contact, then deleted, unless you ask sooner.

The message counter is deleted after 2 days. Deletion is immediate in our own systems; the AI provider's copy expires under its own retention.

What you can ask us to do

See it — ask what we hold about you and we will show you. Correct it — tell us what is wrong and we will fix it. Delete it — say the word, in the chat or by email, and it is removed from our systems the same day. You do not have to give a reason. Object — you may object to us processing your information; we will stop unless the law requires us to continue.

Ask at [email protected], or use the delete and hand-off buttons in the chat itself.

The detail

What we do not want you to send

Please do not type identity numbers, bank or card numbers, passwords, medical details, or anything about a child into this chat. It is for business enquiries. If such information reaches us, we delete it when we find it, and we will tell you.

Children

This chat is for business enquiries and is not intended for anyone under 18. If a child's information reaches us, we delete it.

Your consent, and when we rely on it

We ask for a tick only for contact details, and that tick is never pre-ticked and never a condition of using the chat. The conversation before that point is kept because answering you is a legitimate interest — we tell you about it here, at the top of the chat, before you type.

If something goes wrong

If your information is compromised we will tell you and the Information Regulator as soon as we reasonably can, and tell you what we know and what we have done.

Complaining

If we get this wrong, tell us first — [email protected]. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa):

Access to our records

Our manual under the Promotion of Access to Information Act explains how to ask for records we hold. It is at /paia/.

The rest of the site

This site does not use advertising cookies, trackers or third-party analytics. The pages are static files served by Cloudflare; no profile is built of you. The only place anything you type is stored is the chat, described above.
